Golden Steppers Step Out

Golden Steppers DJ Savage, 10, Kevia Booker, 9, and Easter Likobe, 10, perform at the Pink Out pep rally.

Boswell’s first step team got many students pumped for the growth of this club after its first performance at the Homecoming pep rally.

Sophomore Easter Likobe is a co-captain of the team.

“At first I was a little nervous because I never stepped before, but the fear went away after realizing how fun and creative it could be,” Likobe said.

After the group’s first performance, the team gained new steppers. Likobe called the groups growth a “rise in culture.”

“I hope that it shows that no matter what background you came from, you can come and step as one,” Likobe said, “but most importantly it shows how diverse Boswell is.”

The Steppers’ choreography is fluid, energetic, and it has yet to disappoint the Pioneers.

This brand-new team gets the chance to create their own logo for their performances.

“Golden Steppers” is the name that they gave to themselves, and rightfully so, being that they have exciting numbers that have their own unique kick to them.

The Golden Steppers strive to show that at Boswell, we know how to get into all types of different corners when it comes to clubs, sports and other extracurricular activities. This club wants to prove how Boswell is willing to accept anyone and anything into our school with good intentions.

Sophomore Co-Captain DJ Savage is a first-time stepper.

He joined the club because his father used to step in high school and encouraged him to join.

Savage said he wants to continue stepping throughout his time at Bos.

“There’s a good environment around you,” he said. “It’s like every time I walk in there, everyone is in a good mood, ready to practice, and when it’s time to perform we perform.”
